NEWARK  – The Bosco Hockey Team notched its first road win of the season yesterday, defeating St. Peter’s Prep 7-2 at the Amerihealth Pavilion.  After a back and forth scoreless first period, the Ironmen answered with four goals in the second period to take a 4-2 lead at the intermission.  Top line forwards, Hunter Garlasco (1 goal, 3 assists) and Chris Mazzella (2 goals, 1 assist) continued to pace the Ironman offense and Seiho Jin notched his second in as many games.  Senior defenseman Connor Healey tallied his first two goals of the season and added an assist on Michael Scott’s third period goal.  Not to be forgotten, Alexei Masanko made 20 saves for Ironmen as they improved to 2-0.  Next up, the Ironmen return home for a Gordon Conference matchup against Bishop Eustace this Sunday 6:15 pm at the Ice Vault.

Don Bosco took to the ice to open its 2014-2015 campaign last Sunday skating to a 5-1 victory over Pope John at the the Ice Vault.

WAYNE — It took awhile for Don Bosco to get going Saturday night, but once it did, it began firing on all cylinders and looked very much like the state title contender the Ironmen expect to be this winter.

Fueled by four third-period goals, including two each from first-liners Hunter Garlasco and Chris Mazzella, the Ironmen picked up an opening night victory over Pope John, 5-1, in a Gordon Conference hockey game.

Don Bosco Prep took home this years 2013/14 Acey Award for Best Game of the Year, defeating Delbarton 3-2 in OT to win the school’s first ever Gordon Cup.  Thanks to the entire staff at the Record, specifically JJ and Darren for all of their coverage during the season.  You can find the Acey Award recap here.

A handful of players earned awards this past week including Senior Defenseman Cody Calcagno (North Jersey Player of the Year), Alexei Masanko (Freshman of the Year) as well as taking home Team of the Year honors, as the Star Ledger/NJ.com released its end of season awards.  Thanks to JC Hageny for his continued coverage all season long.

2014 Bergen County Champs

The Bergen Record named the Don Bosco Prep Ice Hockey Team as the 2014 Team of the Year.  A special year for sure, winning a 3rd straight Bergen County Tournament, 2nd TK Cup and 1st ever Gordon Cup, along with getting the chance to play at Yankee Stadium highlighted the season.  A special thanks to all the seniors and we look forward to the 2014/15 season.
