The Ironmen Go Global as many alumni of the program have started or continued their professional hockey careers during the 2017-2018 season.

RJ Burns ’11, former Captain of the Ironmen before competing at SUNY Geneseo for 3 years, is currently playing for Söderhamn/Ljusne in the Swedish Division II League. He is enjoying a good start to his season with 7 points in his first 13 games.
Craig Wyszomirski, former Bosco blue line anchor, has recently begun what will be his second full year of professional hockey with Manchester Monarchs of the ECHL, who are affiliates of the Los Angeles Kings. Wyz joined the squad to finish out their season after completing his collegiate career at Merrimack College in the 2015-2016. During the 2016-2017, Wyz and his teammates enjoyed a deep run in the Kelly Cup playoffs, before being knocked out in 6 games during the 3rd round. He was also called up for 3 games to the Ontario Reign, the AHL affiliate.
Chris (Chuck) Carroll ’13, a graduate of Drexel University and former member of the ACHA DI team, is currently lacing up for the Ulm/Neu-Ulm Devils in the Landesliga Bayern.

Ramsey – Don Bosco Hockey is proud to announce seniors Mickey Burns, John Campomenosi and George Weiner as the captains for the 2017-18 campaign. All three players are four year varsity players and have all played pivotal roles since joining the program as freshman in 2014. Since then, they have been a part of 3 Bergen County Championships (2015-17) and one NJSIAA Non-Public Finals (2017). Head Coach Greg Toskos, spoke at length regarding the development and leadership qualities that all three seniors bring to the team but is looking forward to the upcoming season, “Losing in the finals was tough but we are bringing back a great group of kids. John, Mickey and George are three fantastic leaders. On the ice and in the classroom all three work hard and set a great example for our players.”

McKenzie’12 (l) & Divis (r) accept 2017 Hockey Humanitarian Award
Don Bosco hockey would like to extend its congratulations to former captain Justin McKenzie ’12 on winning the NCAA Hockey Humanitarian award for 2017, considered by many to be one of college hockey’s two most prestigious awards.
Justin (Jmac, as hes fondly remembered) and his collegiate teammate at St. Michael’s College Danny Divis, co-founded Hope Happens Here in 2015. Hope Happens Here is an organization dedicated to raising awareness and reducing the negative stigma surrounding mental health issues among collegiate athletes.
Jmac and Divis are the first ever co-recipients of the Hockey Humanitarian Award (HHA). The Hockey Humanitarian Award is given each year to college hockey’s finest citizen — a student-athlete who makes significant contributions not only to his or her team, but also to the community-at-large through leadership in volunteerism.

Bosco Celebrates Liam McLinskey’s 3rd period goal
West Orange, NJ – After suffering two one goal losses earlier in the season to Gordon conference rival and number two seeded, Pope John, the Ironmen entered
the NJSIAA Non Public Semi-Final with something to prove. Senior Captain Ryan McLinskey (2g, 1a) broke the scoreless tie with 52 seconds remaining in the first period. After a scoreless second period, the Ironmen left no doubt, scoring four goals in the final eight minutes of the third period to defeat the Lions 5-0 and advance to Monday’s championship game.
The Don Bosco defense proved stout again, allowing only 12 shots as Senior goalie, Alexei Masanko posted his 7th shutout of the season. Liam McLinskey (2g, 1a) and Graham Garlasco (1g) rounded out the goal scoring in the third, while Mickey Burns added four assists and defensemen CJ McGee and John Campomenosi each picked up an assist in the victory. Don Bosco will face the winner of Delbarton/CBA, Monday March 6th, 4:30 pm at Mennen Ice Arena.

Senior Captain Cj McGee & Sophomore Goalie Max Schwarz take down St Joe’s Metuchen 7-0
Don Bosco closed out their regular season campaign with a resounding 7-0 shutout of St Joe’s Metuchen. Led by a hat trick from Junior Tsubasa Konishi, the Ironmen closed out the regular season campaign with a 16-5-1 record and head into the Gordon Cup tournament as the three seed. Bosco takes on Seton Hall Prep, Monday 6:30 pm at home in the first round of the Gordon Cup.

Senior Captain Ryan McLinskey 2017 BCT MVP
Don Bosco Hockey is proud to announce that Senior Captain Ryan McLinskey (7G,8A,15P) has been named North Jersey.com Male Athlete of the Week for his performance during the 2017 Bergen County Ice Hockey Tournament. Ryan tallied 3 goals and 3 assists during the tournament, including 2 goals in the championship win over Glen Rock, while also capturing tournament MVP honors. Playing along side his brother for the majority of the season, Sophomore Liam McLinskey, Ryan said,
“We just kind of play the game the same way,” he said. “If you look at us on the ice, we kind of skate the same way.”
A standout on the baseball team, Ryan will be attending Seton Hall University in the fall on a baseball scholarship.
