Coach Chris DeCandia is entering his fifth year as a member of the Don Bosco coaching staff. A graduate of the class of 2008, Chris was a two year varsity letterman goaltender during Coach Toskos’ first two seasons as head coach. During the 2018-19 campaign, Coach DeCandia helped lead the Junior Varsity program to a Gordon Conference JV Championship and Ice Vault JV League Championship while going 24-2-2 throughout the season.
Following graduation, Chris attended Bentley University in Massachusetts earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics & Finance. While at Bentley, Coach DeCandia was a four year starting goaltender for the school’s club hockey team and as a Senior was named an Alternate Captain. Chris’ passion for hockey at Bentley also played a crucial role in developing the club team into a university sanctioned ACHA D2 team.
Following graduation, Coach DeCandia continued his hockey career playing inline for the Long Island 495ers in the Elite Division of the American Inline Hockey League. As a member of the 495ers, Coach DeCandia was honored as 2012-13 Most Valuable Goaltender of the AIHL New England Division and was named the 2014 AIHL Final’s Most Valuable Goaltender, after back stopping his team to an AIHL league championship.
He currently resides in Bergen County.
